平遥县位于山西省中部，相传古代是帝尧的封地，距今已有2830 年的历史，总面积1260平方公里，人口
50万。距省城太原90公里、首都北京600公里，南同蒲铁路、大港高速公路、汾屯公路、108国道和东夏线穿境而过，交通条件非常便利。
平遥古城是全国现存最为完整的唯一明清古城，拥有国家级文保单位11处，省级7处，是国家历史文化名城、世界文化遗产，在国内外享有盛誉。其突出的历史风貌、鲜明的地方特色和深厚的思想文化内涵，具有极高的文物保护、文化发掘和旅游开发价值。胡锦涛、江泽民、朱鎔基等党和国家主要领导人曾莅平视察。从
2001年开始连续六年成功举办的“平遥国际摄影大展”，容获“国际节庆协会(IFEA)中国最具国际影响力十大节庆活动”奖，成为国际文化交流的大型平台。平遥古城 还先后获得“中国顾客十大满意风景区华夏第一古城”、“中国最值得外国人去的50个地方”“中国优秀目的地”等称号。
平遥县城公共服务设施完善。围绕建设国际型旅游城市目标，坚持保护和开发并举、建设和管理并重的原则，城市发展框架日臻成熟，古城保护国际化、新城建设现代化取得明显成效，目前，新城区水、电、路、气等基础设施完善，建成区面积11平方公里。
平遥古城是山西省旅游产业发展的龙头景区，旅游产业经济发展迅速，近年来年均增速均在30%以上。21处文物旅游景点、6条特色产业街区、200余家旅游特色商铺、2处文化娱乐场所、各类旅游宾馆（客栈） 130余家、国内旅行社15家、导游600余人的旅游产业体系初步形成。以新型工业化为导向的八大工业园区基础平台基本完善，以平遥牛肉品牌为龙头的农畜产品产业化发展格局已初步形成。
“十一五”期间，平遥县将会更好地实施旅游带动、统筹发展、环境创优“三大战略”，走好市场型农业强基、诚信商贸业固本、新型工业强县、国际型旅游业富民“四条路子”，在致力打造国际更具知名度、国内最具影响力的晋商文化旅游中心城市道路上迈向新的辉煌。 |

Pingyao, whose total area is 1,260 square kilometers, is located in the
middle of Shanxi Province. It is
said that Pingyao was Emperor Yao manor in ancient times. It has 2,830-year history, and its total
population is 500,000.Transport in Pingyao is so convenient that the southern railway of Tongpu,Dayun
Expressway,Fentun Highway,108 National Road and the Dongxia Line cross the border of Pingyao,which
is 90 kilometers from Taiyuan, the provincial capital, and 600 kilometers from Capital, Beijing.
The ancient city of Pingyao is the only extant city built in Ming and Qing dynasties that is the most
complete. Being the international cultural heritage and the national historical city, Pingyao has great
reputation from all over the world.lt has eleven units of historical relics preserved by Chinese government
and seven by provincial government. The prominent historical style, the distinct local characteristics,and
the profound cultural connotation are well worth preserving, excavating and developing. President Hu
Jintao,President Jiang Zeming, Premier Zhu Rongji and other national leaders inspected Pingyao
ever.Since 2001,Pingyao International Photography Festival has been held successfully for six years in
succession,which won the ten influential festivals of IFEA and became the large platform of the
intercultural communication. The ancient city of Pingyao won the following titles successively:the first
ancient city of the ten satisfying scenic spots of China, the 50 places worth visiting of China, outstanding
travel destination of China.
The public service of Pingyao is well equipped. Aiming at building an international tourist city, equal
stress is laid on both protection and development, construction and management.With more and more
mature development planning, obvious effect has been made in the internationalization of protection of the
ancient city and the modernization of construction of the new city.At present,the infrastructure of the
new city is perfect, including water, electricity, road and natural gas. The area of the city proper is 11
square kilometers.
The ancient city of Pingyao is the leading scenic spot of Shanxi province. Its travel industry is developing
rapidly at the speed of over 130%.The system of travel industry has been formed tentatively,including 21
scenic spots of historical relics,6 streets of characteristic industry,over 200 characteristic travel
shops,two cultural places of entertainment,over 130 travel hotels ( inns included), 15 domestic travel
agencies, and more then 600 tourist guides.The base of eight major industrial parks has been
completed,which takes the new industrialization as the direction. With Pingyao Beef as its leading brand,
the pattern of the industrialization of the agricultural and animal products has taken its shape tentatively.
During the period of the national eleventh five-year plan,the three great strategies will be carried out
better, namely driving with tourism, considering all factors while developing, and creating graceful
environment. The base of the market-oriented agriculture will be strengthened. The trade with honesty
and faith will be consolidated.Try to construct the new strong industrial county and enrich the people by
developing international tourism in the effort to make Pingyao more famous and the centre of the culture
of Jin Trade with stronger influence. The future of Pingyao will be brighter. |
